Description

I do love it when a quick test results in an amazing image.  This was taken using a thin 10" f/3.6 quartz mirror I made, coupled with the Starizona Nexus reducer to make the system f/2.7.  I used the highspeed version of the Antlia 5nm dualband filter to kill off the light pollution in my yard (Bortle 4.5 or so) and the first quarter moon.

Not shabby for only 2 hours of data.  I framed IC410 up near the top of the field to see if I could get the wispy tendrils to the left and below.

The custom mirror was put into the tube of a Skywatcher Quattro 250 (10" f/4) using a custom cell to hold the new shorter mirror farther forward.  The focuser was upgraded to a 2" Feathertouch.  The rest of the tube, rings, secondary mirror and such is all the Skywatcher.
